Boys and Girls Club of the Capital City
Chapman Heating and Air is always looking for great organizations to brag about and we’ve recently been working with the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital City! The Boys and Girls Club of Capital City is a Jefferson City organization that provides after school and summer care to nearly 400 students in the local area. This after school and summer program is not just for everyone, regardless of economic background. The Club is not just a place for them to spend time, they are provided with homework help, drug and violence prevention, Scouts, and even a gardening program!
Director Stephanie Johnson had some information about what kinds of donations they need the most at the Boys and Girls Club. She said their biggest needs always are socks and deodorant. One surprising need is school supplies, not now, but in the middle of the year. Stephanie explained to me that a lot of people are thinking about school supplies right now (in early September) and they gladly welcome those donations, but the kiddos need a restock in the middle of the year (like January). Another useful donation for the Boys and Girls Club is first aid supplies, especially band aids and ice packs. Luckily the kids have a place to run off some energy and have fun, but there are accidents and they like to be prepared.
Chapman has recently partnered with this amazing organization to provide them with some of their needs on a quarterly basis. This time of year they provide each student with a take-home hygiene kit including toothpaste, deodorant, socks, etc. In December, we will be donating school supplies, hats and gloves, and indoor activities (board games, nerf balls, etc.).
