October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we wanted to do our part by supporting Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in their 10th Annual Artful Bra Silent Auction and Reception We invite you to join us on October 17th from 5 to 8:30pm at Logboat Brewing Company for a night of yard games, live music, food from Ozark Mountain Biscuit Co. food truck and of course, the silent auction! We even designed our own bra to be auctioned off – Come see it and all the other great submissions!
The funds raised at this family-friendly event go toward breast cancer patients who are unable to pay for essential screenings and treatments, including mammograms, imaging, transportation, surgery expenses, pharmacy expenses and much more!
In the month of August we partnered with Welcome Home; a local organization that offers support and resources to homeless or at-risk veterans.
Last year Welcome Home served 350+ veterans and their families over 35,000 meals – 83% of those they assisted have achieved independent housing.
For every new Comfort Club Membership we donated $15 directly to Welcome Home, in an effort to help them in their mission to end veteran homelessness. We signed up a total of 36 new maintenance plan memberships, and donated a total of $1,080!
At Chapman Heating and Cooling we enjoy giving back to our community by spotlighting the exceptional work of local charities. One organization that’s near and dear to our heart is City of Refuge.
According to Garrett Pearson, the Executive Director of City of Refuge “The ultimate goal is not to just provide, but to help them up, so they can in turn help somebody else up.”
City of Refuge provides assistance with things like learning how to cook, navigating a grocery store and finding reliable transportation to a job.
Saturday June 22nd, City of Refuge is hosting an open house event to honor the refugees in our community. There will be delicious food, fun family activities, and a celebration of the beautiful cultures represented in our city.
In April 2019, Chapman held a virtual Food Drive for The Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri. The community stepped up and donated $120 toward the cause. Thank you to everyone who donated!
We pledged to match your donations up to $2000, and we decided to take that pledge to the max by taking them a check for the whole amount. While we were there we even got to donate our time in the food packaging part of the building. We had such a great time!
The Food Bank helps over 100,000 people in our community every month. They have the resources to turn just one dollar into $21 of groceries so with the help of the community, Chapman was able to provide over $45,000 worth of groceries to mid-Missouri.
Throughout March, Chapman donated $15 to the Central Missouri Humane Society for every new Chapman Family Comfort Club Member! We also celebrated our our rescue pets. Watch the video above to get a glimpse at some of those furry friends.
We signed up 30 new maintenance agreements!
Our second annual Chapman Gives Back system recipient was a family from Centralia, Missouri. After falling on some hard times, Mollie was able to pull her and her family up by the bootstraps! She has slowly been renovating her home and doing everything she can to stay within their small budget. This system not only made her home much more comfortable, but also much more efficient. After the install, we anticipated that their family would save hundreds of dollars in energy bills.
This old and inefficient system was replaced with something that was much more up-to-date and will continue to keep this family comfortable all year around. We were so thankful to receive her nomination from a family friend. This is such a rewarding time of year for Chapman; we love helping a family start the year off right!
Each year at our annual Chapman company Christmas party, we all play BINGO. The purpose of BINGO is trifold: 1) Most obviously, it is so much fun! 2) We have the opportunity to win some really great prizes. and 3) Most importantly, we raise money to adopt families for Christmas for the Rainbow House. With the generosity of our entire team, we are usually able to adopt two whole families to help with their Christmas efforts, and this year was no different.
Not only do we get to have fun raising money to make this time of year special for a couple families, we get to do the shopping too. The Rainbow House provides us with a wish list from the families and then our very own, Shana Martin, makes a list with our budget. The whole office team spends the afternoon shopping, and then a few technicians load up their vans with the presents and deliver them to the Rainbow House. We love hearing the stories about the families that receive our donations. It certainly makes for a great way to end the year at Chapman!
Throughout the month of November, we did an internal coat drive here at Chapman. Our goal was to donate 60 coats to Welcome Home (because it’s our 60th year, get it!). With the extreme generosity from our entire team, we were able to donate over 100 new and gently used coats! Welcome Home provides support for homeless and recovering veterans in our community. They were so thankful for our HUGE boxes of coats, and we were glad to be able to provide them with some support for all they do in mid-Missouri and beyond!
One organization that’s near and dear to our hearts is City of Refuge. This organization offers support to refugees in Columbia by helping them because integrated, productive, and contributing members of our community. This is a completely local organization that is working through primarily grass roots efforts to maintain their services. Here at Chapman, we feel fortunate to be able to help this incredible organization by donating time and equipment for their recently purchased headquarters in Columbia. This month, Chapman installed two systems at their offices on Lowe St. Find out more about this incredible organization and how you can help at CityOfRefugeColumbia.org.
This year we did our first ever Chapman Gives Back system giveaway. Watch this amazing video to learn all about our process and recipient:
