Celebrating 50 Years with Chapman and Lennox
Lennox Industries has a rich history that dates back to 1890, when the original Dave Lennox built and marketed the world’s first steel furnace. And you already know that Chapman also has a rich history, but did you know they long-standing relationship that Chapman and Lennox have had together? Last weekend, Chapman was honored with an award from Lennox for 50 years of partnership! In the last 50 years, since Chapman has been working with Lennox, we’ve seen many changes together and separately. But all this long-time, rich history talk got me thinking about the history of the heating and air conditioning system. With some help from the internet (and the interactive timeline on Lennox’s website), I have put together my Abbreviated Chapman/Lennox Timeline below:
1958: Chapman opens it’s doors under the reign of George and Lois Chapman, only 6 years after the development of Lennox’s first central air-condition system (1952). Heating systems had been the only staple of the industry since 1895.
1965: Chapman begins working with Lennox as a dealer as they were developing their technology to reduce noise and efficiency issues in gas furnaces and air conditioners
1972: “Dave Lennox” the notable mascot for Lennox Industries appears for the first time in advertising
1982: Ron and Beth Chapman took over Chapman Heating and Air, devoting the next 30 years to the company
2005: Lennox introduces their latest innovation – an all-new, energy efficient lineup of cooling products, these products proved to be popular as well as smart for the consumer
2006: Lennox make in-home humidity at thing of the past with the introduction of their whole home dehumidification system
2008: Chapman celebrates their own 50 year anniversary, learn more about that celebration here
2009: Again Lennox raises the bar with duel-fuel technology heat pumps that switch from electric to gas and are noticeably quieter than previous models
2012: Heidi, Nathan, Heather, and Phil stepped up to take on the ownership roles of Chapman Heating and Air
2015: Chapman and Lennox celebrate 50 years together, and look forward to many more years of partnership together
