Daylight Savings Time, yet again…

Maintenance,

The first few minutes of this coming Sunday are probably going to cause some confusion. Check phone time, check clock time, rub eyes, lather, rinse, repeat. Wait a minute…it’s daylight savings time again!

While we take part in the ritual of daylight savings time, we are also reminded that there are honey-dos to accomplish. Some of the household things I do are checking batteries and cleaning out/changing my furnace filter. Batteries definitely need to be changed in the smoke detectors all around the house but also take this time to change the batteries in your thermostat. Flashlights and remote control batteries get some attention in my house twice a year as well because safety first is a thing but so is not getting up to change the channel.

This is the perfect time of year to change your furnace filter since it’s been working hard for you all winter long. The change from heating to air-conditioning in your home doesn’t mean a change in how hard your comfort system works for you. Keeping your filter clean can be the first step to preventing bigger issues with the entire system.

Another important thing that goes on in my house around daylight savings time is changing out the winter clothes for the summer clothes. This tradition gives me an excuse to go through the things that I have worn out or did not end up loving last season. This tradition also gives me an excuse to make way for new items, which are necessary.

Don’t forget to SPRING forward this Sunday, and get excited about the warmer weather because what Daylight Savings really means in Spring is almost here!
