Home Performance Specialist: Tony
We have a unique part of our installation department here, made up by one Chap-man, and completely in the business of improving your home performance. Tony Rigdon is our Home Performance Specialist and his goal is to reduce your energy costs. Tony works alongside the City of Columbia to ensure people are getting the best rebates and financing on more efficient home comfort!
The City of Columbia Super Saver Program is based on a pre- and post-test Energy Audits, that Tony performs. This is more commonly called the “Blower Door” test. The process can cost up to $400, but if you replace your equipment through Chapman we will take care of that cost for you! The first part of the process takes around four hours. With this time, Tony attaches a huge fan to the front, or primary entrance of your home. This is where the term “blower door” comes from. This blower door is hooked up to a computer that reads a ton of information while it is on. During this part of the process, Tony goes through your entire home searching for air leaks in all of the doors or windows, including the garage door. With the information he gathers, we are able to recommend improvements to be made for your home. Often times this is more efficient heating and cooling equipment, and could be things like insulation, or new doors or windows. These recommendations are not mandatory to qualify for the City’s program. You can do one or all of the recommendations on the list! Once all of the improvements you intend to make are completed, Tony will come back out for the post test. At this time, a representative from the City will come to you home with Tony and verify all the improvements and complete the process.
