Summer Fun in Mid-Missouri!
Summer is right around the corner, with rain everywhere and temperatures quickly rising, it’s hard to forget that we aren’t far from those sweltering mid Missouri days we all love so much.
Even though the Dog Days are right around the corner, the next few months are the perfect time to enjoy some quality family time. Maybe you are planning a huge cross-country family vacation, visiting family in another state, or even visiting another country. But what if that crazy traveling isn’t your style? Don’t worry, there is plenty for you and your family to explore, hear, and see right here in Columbia over the next few months!
Do you love free events? Then be sure to check out the Family Fun Fest, which happens every 3rdWednesday, from now until Sept 18th. These events have something for everyone, from live performances, to vendors and food trucks. You can also visit the Como Flea Swap which happens on the first full weekend of every month, and is chock full of deals, unique items and bartering. You are sure to find something you’ll love there!
One event that I am excited about is Restaurant Week, who doesn’t love winning prizes and eating delicious food from the wonderful restaurants in downtown CoMo. After eating some good food, why not listen to some music? During Hot Summer Nights at the beautiful historic Missouri Theater featuring the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, you can watch the orchestra perform with guest artists from all over the world – for six weeks! If an orchestra isn’t your style, there will be plenty of outdoor concerts, the Outdoor Roots and Blues Festival, and even Movies in the Park.
There is so much to do this upcoming summer here in Columbia, from concerts and food, to taking a walk along the Katy Trail or in Cosmo Park.
