Tech Tips, Plumbing, Indoor Air Quality, Heat, Service, Maintenance,

The past couple of weeks in Mid-Missouri have blessed us with beautiful Fall days. With cooler weather comes a need for furnaces! Every week we choose a question that our office staff and technicians are asked often. This month we will be exploring some super cool topics! Humidifiers and carbon monoxide monitors are just the beginning. Check out more of what we’re focusing on coming up!

Why does my skin feel so dry?

If your household suffers from dry and itchy skin during the colder months, we recommend a whole-home humidifier that runs with your furnace. A whole home humidifier can prevent skin irritation, respiratory problems, and keep wood furniture and floors from drying out. The goal humidity level for your home should be around 35%, do you know how close you are? Give the experts a call to find out!

How often do I replace my CO Monitor?

A carbon monoxide detector should be replaced regularly to ensure that the readings remain accurate. The sensor in the monitor has a 5-7 years lifespan. Within this amount of time there is often new and more accurate technology that comes out to improve your home’s safety! Read our blog post here to learn more!

My furnace is blowing cool air! What now?

If your furnace has been on for a while and just isn’t warming your home, the first step is to check the thermostat to ensure it is set on “Heat” and not “Cool”. We always recommend that you check the filter to make sure it isn’t clogged and restricting airflow to the furnace. If these don’t seem like solutions for you, give us a call and we will send out one of our expert technicians!

Why does my garbage disposal stink?

If your garbage disposal is becoming too smelly to ignore anymore then it’s time for a good cleaning!  Our plumbers recommend using ice cubes and hot water to remove any food residue. You can also use salt for a little added cleaning power and finish with vinegar to deodorize!
